Question 1

What is RSS and why should I use it?

Accepted Answer

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) lets you subscribe to websites and get their updates in one place, like email subscriptions without the email. Instead of checking dozens of sites or letting social media algorithms pick for you, you choose exactly which sources to follow.

Question 2

How is QuietFeed different from Feedly or Inoreader?

Accepted Answer

QuietFeed focuses on simplicity and content filtering. While competitors push AI features and enterprise tiers, we lead with muting and boosting, tools that let you shape your feed without algorithms making decisions for you. And friend sharing lets you share articles with real friends, not followers.

Question 3

What can I do with muted words?

Accepted Answer

Muted words hide any article whose title or content contains those words. Set them permanently or with expiration dates, perfect for avoiding spoilers for a show you haven't watched yet, or filtering out a topic you're tired of hearing about. Plus users get unlimited muted words.

Question 4

Can I import my feeds from another reader?

Accepted Answer

Yes. QuietFeed supports OPML import and export, the standard format used by all major RSS readers. Export from your current reader, import into QuietFeed, and you're set.

Question 5

How does friend sharing work?

Accepted Answer

Send a friend request to another QuietFeed user. Once they accept, you can share any article directly with them. They'll see it in their Shared With Me tab. It's private: no public profiles, no follower counts. Just sharing between people you know.

Question 6

Is there a mobile app?

Accepted Answer

QuietFeed is a web app that works beautifully on any device: desktop, tablet, or phone. Just open it in your browser. No app store downloads required.

Question 7

What happens if I hit the Basic plan limits?

Accepted Answer

The Basic plan includes 25 feeds, 3 muted words and 2 boost words. Sharing is free on every plan. If you want unlimited rules, Plus is $5/month, or $40/year (save ~33%).
